In the morning you will travel to a small temple of Banteay Srei well known for its beautiful delicate carvings in warm pink sandstone. This late 10th century temple is fairly compact and very different from other Angkorian temples. The late 9th century Hindu temples Bakong, Lolei and Preah Ko form what is collectively known as the Rolous group located 15km west of Siem Reap, away from the main Angkor Archaeological Park. Explore the early capital of Angkor and let your guide show you the most attractive sites in this location, the most impressive being the pyramid-like Bakong surrounded by moat still containing water today. Then, you will travel to Kompong Phluk, an authentic stilted village on the edge of the great Tonle Sap Lake. The late 9th century Hindu temples Bakong, Lolei and Preah Ko form what is collectively known as the Rolous group located 15km west of Siem Reap, away from the main Angkor Archaeological Park. Explore the early capital of Angkor and let your guide show you the most attractive sites in this location, the most impressive being the pyramid-like Bakong surrounded by moat still containing water today.

Afternoon you will travel to Kompong Phluk, an authentic stilted village on the edge of the great Tonle Sap Lake. Fun fact: most households here own boats as well as motorbikes as their road becomes a water channel during the monsoon. The biggest attraction in this neighbourhood is the eerie Flooded Forest accessible by boat during the wet season. Back to hotel and drop off.

Private Trekking Tour to The World Heritage Temples

A perfect tour for the active visitor! The Angkor Archaeological Park is a largely shaded forested area, so if you wish to combine your temple sightseeing with a healthy dose of walking, this tour is for you! You will be dropped off at Spean Neak bridge and start your walk to Angkor Wat Temple. Then, keep walking on the 8m high laterite wall to the East Gate (Death Gate). This short section of the wall has a clear worn path which is used by local traffic, occasionally you may meet people collecting wood and going on about their daily business. Through breaks in the forest canopy, you will be able to glance at the Angkor Thom moat below and on the other side the slope into the dense jungle. Back on level ground you will pass Prasat Pram Pi Lveng and continue to the Khleang temple group and the Preah Pithu Group, Tanei and Taprohm Temples. Although in plain sight and passed by many, these temples are rarely explored and thus well worth a short stop. You are almost guaranteed to have them to yourself!
