Neak Pean Temple
The foundation steles give us interesting information about their organization. After the Buddhist invocation and the traditional eulogy of the king, the inscription tells us that the hospital is placed under the auspices of Buddha the Healer, Bhaishajyaguru Vaiduryaprabha, ‘the master of remedies, with the shining beryl’, whose statue was placed in the chapel adjoining the hospital. He was one of the most popular Buddhas, and still is today in China and Tibet.
